Age doesn’t always correlate with interest in golf

Natalie Byron and Amelia Brogeron stood out at The Players Thursday. They weren’t clad in collared shirts and khaki Docker capris…they couldn’t even see over the bars at the 17th hole fan stands.

But that didn’t stop the two four-year-olds from having a blast at the qualifying rounds Thursday. In fact, it was the third day at Sawgrass for the pair from Ponte Vedra. Surprisingly, Amelia’s favorite part of the tournament was the actual game. “We love golf!”

Amelia’s best friend, Natalie, quickly assured the girls were normal children, however.

“Our other favorite thing is running around on the hills.” When the girls weren’t running up and down the manicured turf adjacent to the holes, they were collecting signatures from the golfers. Though each girl’s tiny pink hat was scribbled on with professionals’ Sharpie signatures, the two were still aspiring to get their personal favorites’.

Amelia hoped to run in to Tiger while Natalie wished to get Sergio Garcia’s autograph. As of round 1 at the tournament, each had a space open for their golf idol.
